Happy Birthday Tutaj BJJ… More Than A Few Days Late

As the gym has been open for just over a year now, I would like to thank everyone that I trained with over the years:  From back in the day in Madison at the Monkey Bar / LCCT and Sunday night open mats;  training at Matamoros BJJ with everyone to Neutral Ground, Red Schaefer MMA, 360 BJJ, and Waukesha MMA in Milwaukee; Gracie Barra, Team Redzovic, New Breed, Valko BJJ, POW MMA in Chicago; and everyone at Tutaj BJJ.  I would not be where I am without people like you.

Thank you.

2nd place at NAGA

Despite my back issues, I took 2nd place in no gi expert and brown belt.  Not real happy about either loss...  The no gi championship was against a guy that was sponsored by Origin.  In the brown belt match, I had a choke sunk in with 10 seconds left.  The brown belt match was only 6 minutes.   NAGA said they follow IBJJF rules.  If they did it should have been 8 minutes.  Anyway, my back was sore from a slightly separated rib from the tournament, which wrecked something in the front of my ribs on Monday at class.  I'm sure it will heal if I give it a chance

Competing today for the first time under the Tutaj BJJ banner, Jon Tutaj won his third Corral Combat Classic tournament in Gary, Indiana.  Jon won nogi advanced lightweight.  From a locked reverse-triangle, he secured the win with an Americana lock in under three minutes.  It was another display of artistry in jiu-jitsu from Jon.
